तारीख़ी रिवायात बताती हैं कि वे फ़लकियात और रियाज़ी में भी माहिर थे, इस इल्म को सही कैलेंडर बनाने और आसमानी हरकात समझने के लिए इस्तेमाल करते थे। दर्ज़ी का हुनर भी मुख़्तलिफ़ रिवायात में मज़कूर है, जहां उन्होंने लोगों को सुई से कपड़े सिलना सिखाया और जानवरों की खालों की जगह मुनासिब लिबास का इंतज़ाम किया।
अमली हुनर के अलावा, हज़रत इदरीस (अ.स.) रूहानी और अख़लाक़ी क़द्रों के गहरे उस्ताद थे। उन्होंने नमाज़, रोज़ा और ज़कात की अहमियत पर ज़ोर दिया, बहुत से बुनियादी आमाल क़ायम किए जो बाद में आने वाली इलाही वहियों में मुकम्मल और बेहतर बनाए गए।

उन्हें उन लोगों की तरफ़ से काफ़ी मुख़ालफ़त का सामना करना पड़ा जिन्होंने फ़ासिद रस्म रिवाज और बुत परस्ती अपना ली थी। मुश्किलात के बावजूद वे अपनी दावत में सब्र के साथ क़ायम रहे, हिकमत और इलाही इल्म के अमली मुज़ाहरे दोनों इस्तेमाल करके लोगों को अपने पैग़ाम की सच्चाई का यक़ीन दिलाया।
उनके तरीक़े में रूहानी रहनुमाई के साथ अमली तालीम भी शामिल थी, लोगों को न सिर्फ़ अल्लाह के साथ रिश्ते के बारे में सिखाते बल्कि ऐसे हुनर और इल्म भी फ़राहम करते जो उनकी रोज़मर्रा की ज़िंदगी बेहतर बनाते। इस जामे अप्रोच ने उनके पैग़ाम को अपनी क़ौम में ज़्यादा क़ाबिले क़बूल और मुअस्सिर बनाया।
